Technology, though great, is expensive. Technological devices such as computers, digital cameras, camcorders and overhead projectors are all great aspects of any teaching/learning environment. Our government recognized the need to equip teachers with knowledge and skills they can use to integrate technology in the classroom hence, E-Learning Programme. But, a regular classroom teacher’s salary leaves much to be desired and the government continuously complains that they are cash strapped. Teachers are given few learning resources and have to seek the necessary materials out of their pockets. What can the government do to alleviate this problem?
Do you think the government should give teachers a special consumption tax break when purchasing these devices so that they become more relatively affordable?
First thing, teachers are not the ones who should be purcashing these devices, we need them yes, but from our pockets, take from the little that we are getting, thats a no, no. Great, remove comsumption taxes or lessen it, and maybe we can contribute to buying some of these devices, we could pool the the money and buy them in the schools name, so that no teacher has right or authority over the devices.
ReplyDeleteI do not think teachers should be the ones the tax should be lowered for as they should not be the ones purchasing these equipments for educational institutions. For their personal use, yes. I strongly believe that we as a people should not be paying so much for computers and accessories if we are to move forward technologically

ReplyDeleteWhy give us a tax beak,we are not the ones who should be purchasing these devices at all the ministry should be the one. If a technological classroom exist, the ministry should fund these equipment.Accountability is preached ever so often. Give teachers technological equipment don't let our pockets pay at all.
ReplyDeleteYes, teachers are not the ones who should be paying for any learning resources but too often i have personally found myself purchasing these resources because they were not provided but are needed to add to the effectiveness of lessons.
